Gill Instruments' meteorological instruments include ultrasonic anemometers and weather stations for wind speed and direction measurement, as well as wind speed indicators and displays for wind speed and direction information. Our ultrasonic anemometer range is the largest available worldwide, with robust designs spanning a broad application range.
WindSonic - Now with Reduced Power Consumption The popular Gill WindSonic 2-axis ultrasonic wind sensor has been upgraded, now with reduced power consumption. The new unit consumes just 5.5mA @12V, offering the same great performance as the original version. View Anemometer >
Gill WindSonic Survives Hurricane Katrina
In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina passed within 49 n mi of a Gill WindSonic anemometer, mounted to an oceanographic observing system buoy that is part of the Central Gulf of Mexico Ocean Observing System. The WindSonic anemometer survived, providing a valuable insight into hurricane wind behaviour. Report by The Journal of Atmospheric and Oceanic Technology (external link)
Extreme Weather WindObserver Anemometer A new variant of the popular WindObserver Anemometer has been launched. The Extreme Weather WindObserver is a 2-axis ultrasonic anemometer, with high heating power to keep the anemometer ice-free in most freezing weather conditions. This anemometer is particularly suited to wind turbine applications. View Anemometer >
