The WindSonic ultrasonic wind sensor is a low cost alternative to conventional cup and vane or propeller wind sensors. This ultrasonic wind sensor is solid-state with no moving parts, ideal for use in harsh weather environments.
The WindSonic ultrasonic wind sensor will monitor both wind speed and direction, providing one serial or two analogue outputs. The outputs provided by this ultrasonic wind sensor are transmitted together with an instrument status code, confirming correct operation.

Robust, maintenance-free ultrasonic wind sensor
WindSonic is lightweight (0.5kg), with a robust polycarbonate blend outer case. The ultrasonic sensor has been designed for installation in wind applications subject to extreme environments, without the fear of damage commonly encountered by more fragile cup or propeller wind sensors. While the WindSonic ultrasonic wind sensor is suitable for a wide range of applications, it is particularly suited to marine (ships, data buoys) and land-based installations.
With no moving parts and a corrosion-free exterior, this ultrasonic wind sensor removes the need for expensive site calibration or maintenance giving a true “fit and forget” ultrasonic wind sensor solution.
